Narrow Land, Calm Sea's

Our largest metropolis, "Auckland", is situated on the narrow lands that separate the city's unique harbour playgrounds. The Waitemata Harbour,   on the east with its golden sands and its Pohutukawa lined beaches to the wild rugged West Coast at the outlet of the Manukau Harbour.

City of Sails

The Port of Auckland, present home of the America's Cup, opens out to the Hauraki Gulf, where many Islands and beaches form sanctuaries to the Wildlife of this Historic Volcanic area. Rangitoto Island, a prime example, forms a backdrop to the views found from dormant volcanoes like Mt Eden in the centre of Auckland City.

Histories Domain

In days gone by the garrison band serenaded Victorian families as they  strolled among the peacocks. The winter Gardens  with Tropical and Cool Houses provide for those who appreciate the beauty of the garden, yet on Domain Hill or Pukekawa, " sour hill", stands a memorial to those who gave their all for the freedom of today. History all revealed in the airy chambers of the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
