...welcome you to the Braco highland Cattle Fold
situated at Karapiro, near Cambridge, in the
North Island of New Zealand.
For 14 years Braco
was nestled at
1100 feet against the slopes of Mt Egmont and yet only 15 km's from the sea.
This was a high rainfall area which the Highlands coped
with really well.
But Taranaki was
out on a limb and the travelling out to shows was becoming hard work. So in
May 2001 Braco made the big shift to a central location and now the
Highlanders are happily grazing the hill sides overlooking State Highway One
at Karapiro |
| The Farm
|
On our 60 acres we run about 25 breeding cows and young stock. Somewhere
between 45 and 65 head when the calves are born.
Having the small acreage is good as we cannot be tempted into keeping everything, which
means that we are able to offer quality stock to other breeders.
This number keeps us busy as they are all well handled and we encourage visitors. |
