What better way
to see inner Christchurch than Punting the tranquil water of the Avon River.
Past the historic Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings, where
building commenced in 1859 and was designed by the Architect of the day B.W.
Mountfort. A start to the many other buildings that have risen from a
prosperity of Wool and Wheat. |

Square
|
Completed in
1904 the Christ Church Cathedral is the main attraction in the Square. The
tall copper-sheathed spire of this English Gothic cathedral rises 65.5
metres above the square. A stroll through the building to the Bell Ringers
Vestry will take you back in time to a display of plaques and
commemorations. |
