Mt Ruapehu, the highest mountain
in the North Island, and Mt Ngauruhoe can be seen from the
northern shores of Lake Taupo, alongside the
Taupo township. The Tongariro National Park offers
many ski fields. Whakapapa, Turoa and Tukino. |

Maori carvings make a perfect frame
at the lakes viewpoint. Standing proud at the southern end of the
township. Summer activities, Water Skiing and Sailing,
make this lake really come alive.

 | The Mighty Waikato

The Waikato River flows 425 km's to the sea,
providing many power stations on the way.
After leaving Lake Taupo the Waikato hurtles
over the Huka Falls on its way to the Aratiatia Dam.
Just past the Aratiatia Rapids you can even try
White Water Jet Boating.

the Wairakei Park. The spectacular Huka Falls can be viewed
in many ways, from the lookout, Jet Boat
or Helicopter.

The Geothermal activity
in this area is
harnessed to provide Electrical Power. Wairakei thermal area,
bellows steam into the air. The AC Baths, also use this energy for their
thermally heated Hot pools. |

Taupo offers six golf courses,
including the World Famous Wairakei International Golf Course.
You may just try for a Hole in One over the Lake. |

 | Charter a Cruise

Trout, released here over 100 years ago,
provides for many a fishy story. Tours are available from many of
the charter boats moored in the
entrance of the Waikato River.
